Miami Lakes is a small planned town west of the Palmetto. The ocean is a drive, not a Tuesday plan. Start at Miami Lakes Optimist Park, where the Matthew Palacios Boundless Playground has ramps and wide walkways, or at Royal Oaks and Veterans Park when the ballfields take over. Neighborhood tot lots cover a short window. Park 16 on Palmetto Palm, the Gleneagle Drive tot lot, Miami Lakeway South, and Park 58 on Sawmill Lane got new play equipment in 2026. Six passive lakefront parks, on Crooked Palm, Twin Sabal, Menteith Terrace, Lake Childs Court, White Oak, and Breckness Place, are look-and-picnic shores. They are not guarded swim beaches, and the town has no splash pad. K9 Cove is the dog park, not a playground. On Saturdays the farmers market sets up on Meadow Walk at Bull Run Road. My Gym on Main Street is the indoor class for babies through big kids. The Athletic Club on Bull Run Road runs rhythmic gymnastics from age 4. The Miami Lakes Branch Library has been closed for renovation since March 23, 2026, for about 24 months, so it is not a rain plan. For water play, use Hialeah or Doral.
